I was back home from my turkey trot around 9:30, which gave us a little less than two hours to get ready for our big adventure to Mike & Kristin's place. Everything went smooth. We even had time to take some family pictures! Cameras are just crazy today. They can almost operate without human intervention! Well, not exactly. If given specific directions and the aid of a tripod, they are capable of taking pictures without a person behind the lens (which is so handy when you want a family picture). We arrived at Mike & Kristin's around 12:00. Kaylee and Ruby & Homer were immediately attracted. The dogs were all: "hmmm, this little one is a tiny little human, how interesting." While Kaylee was all: "AAHHHHH, my very own horses!" Seriously, Kaylee babbles and talks a lot, but she generally doesn't do it loudly. She was screaming/squealing very loudly most of the day (with some impressive exuberance). Most of her squeals were aimed at Ruby, who (poor thing), just wanted to sleep. Ruby just couldn't figure out how Kaylee had so much energy. Kaylee was so excited by everything that she had exhausted herself without even knowing it. Around 2:00 I had to throw her in her little baby backpack carrier, and Nick & I set out for a pre-dinner walk. After walking around for about 40 minutes, Kaylee finally fell alseep. Phew, she needed a little R&R. She slept for about 45 minutes and was back squealing at Ruby as soon as she woke up. She could have used a longer nap, but there was just too much excitement afoot.
We ate dinner close to 4:00 and it was awesome! Turkey with all the fixins of course. And we ate until our pants were really tight...And then we ate pie...mmm Yum. Unfortunatley, Kaylee was super tired (and she just can't sleep when there's excitement about), so we had to head out around 5:30. We would have loved to stay longer and socialize more, but cranky baby equals disaster later.
Overall, it was an excellent day. There was running, turkey, pie, great company, and an exuberant baby! It doesn't get much better than that!
