Ta da! Introducing Kaylee's big girl room!

In preparation for a new member of the family, we've been trying to get Kaylee's big girl room completed. It's been a fun process. Kaylee helped pick out all the decorations, bed stuff, and rug. There is no real theme to the room, but that's fine by me. And it's still super cute!

Getting the room ready was easy, I wasn't sure, however, if it would be easy to get her to sleep there. On the first night the room was really completed, she asked to sleep there, but then during story time she started crying. When I asked her what was wrong she told me she didn't want to sleep in her new bed. I told her that was fine, we'd just wait until Monday. (This happened on a Friday.) Over the next few days, we talked about sleeping in the new bed and how great it was and so on and so forth. She seemed convinced that sleeping there would be great...until Monday afternoon rolled around when she told me she couldn't sleep there because...and then there came a slew of very interesting toddler excuses. I explained that there was nothing to worry about and tried to address any and all concerns. At this point, she had me convinced that transitioning to a big bed was going to be an absolute nightmare, but then bedtime came and she did fine. She talked to herself for about 10 minutes, and then went right to sleep. She's been sleeping in the bed now for a little over a week! Sigh of relief! I'm keeping my fingers crossed and knocking on wood that it keeps going smoothly! Below are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Here you can see some of Kaylee's toys. You can also sort of see the Nemo stickers above the dresser. She was adamant about Nemo stickers. She hasn't even seen the movie, but her old room has Nemo stickers and she really really wanted some for her new room.

Here you can see the bed and some Pooh stickers. The bed looks a bit odd because there's a cylinder shaped portable safety rail under the bedspread. Not sure if we like it, but the first guardrail we got was awful. It was bent, the paint was chipping off, and it lifted the whole mattress up about an inch. The cylinder shaped thing doesn't do any of that, but it doesn't feel secure unless it's under something. Honestly we're not even sure if Kaylee needs anything to keep her from falling out of bed. She pretty much stays where you leave her, but we're not ready to take that plunge yet.

And here Kaylee is relaxing on her new bed! Doesn't she look like a toddler with a teenager inside that's just waiting to get out?

And I definitely recommend the railing for a while!

WOw, the room looks great! Nice job. Looks like Kaylee really likes her bed, which is a GOOD thing!

I found the bed to be very comfortable when I jumped in it! It's a nice large room too.
