Although blurry, it's quite clear that this photo (taken with our phone) is a light saber battle between a
Sith lord and
Jedi knight. Needless to say, Halloween was interesting. We opted to visit the
Higgins Armory museum. They were having a Halloween special that not only included light saber battles, but tutorials on how to successfully wield a light saber (something I've always wanted to know). The lecture began something like "although today we know little about how light saber battles were fought because they occurred a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, we do know that they are similar in length to samurai swords, and thus we can make some inferences as to how battles were fought." I thoroughly enjoyed the lecture. Kaylee, on the other hand, mostly liked the light show. At one point she shouted out, "maybe they'll turn them on again when they stop talking?"

Kaylee was inspired by the light saber battle and kept asking when she could have one. We explained that she'd have to wait until she a bit older. Light sabers are, after all, dangerous. Then I remembered that we actually had a couple toy sabers in the closet. (Yes, you read that correctly.) I ran and grabbed them. Kaylee squealed with delight and blurted out "now I'm old!" Here she is...from bumble bee to Jedi knight. I think she's a natural.

Sunday we decided to head into Boston just to walk around and enjoy the nice weather. Nick decided to leave the beast of a camera behind and soon regretted it. Near the parking garage we saw the most monstrous crane! He took a picture with his phone, but it was seriously crazy. Almost scary crazy. It was that big. Can you imagine something going wrong with that bad boy? We even had the opportunity to see it in action. Later we also saw it being taken apart. There was a whole second crane that was used to disassemble that monster!

In between the Jedi battles and monster cranes, Kaylee also had her first carousel ride. She was so excited. I see more carousel rides in her future (and Nick's). I can't do rides that go in circles. Motion sickness. Yuck!

My boys would have loved the light saber lecture! Needless to say we have light sabers in every color imaginable. The picture of Kaylee in her costume is precious.
Thanks for the adorable picture of Kaylee! We have it posted on the fridge.
Nick, great photo's of Boston! I learned long ago that if you can take a good picture in black and white...you can take a GOOD picture!
