We took the plunge and bought a Digital SLR camera as an anniversary gift to ourselves back in May. Hmm, what could have motivated that purchase? Our little point and shoot (P&S) is great but we’re greedy and wanted the ability to take better pictures of Kaylee. After doing some research, I found that Digital SLRs use a much larger sensor than P&Ss and thus are far more sensitive in low light (when we inevitably must take pictures of Kaylee). That along with other considerations such as better depth of field led us to the decision for a new camera (
Canon 450D) to capture pictures of our little cutie.

Well we have been very happy with our purchase and some of us may be enjoying it a bit too much. I’ve been reading up on photography, lenses, technique etc to make sure I can use the camera’s potential and get us some nice pictures, but I’m afraid I may be becoming an addict. I bore Katie with endless talk of aperture, shutter speeds, post processing etc etc etc. She smiles and nods, and sometimes giggles at me, until I finally realize I have been prattling on for 20 minutes. While there won’t be any new lenses in the near future, I do have my eyes on several possibilities, maybe a
macro lens or a
long zoom or a
sharper replacement for our current kit lens. The craziness poor Katie has to put up with, right? I’m sure the obsession will ease but hopefully I can learn enough to keep everyone supplied with nice Kaylee photos. :)
