"The Office" Marathon

For my birthday, Mark & Alexis gave me the first two seasons of “The Office” so I decided to have a little marathon watching almost all the episodes while Nick was traveling last week. (I have trouble sleeping when he’s not around.) For anyone who hasn’t seen the show, “The Office” is a sitcom but it’s unique in that it doesn’t have a laugh track and it’s in the form of a “mockumentary.” What makes the show funny is the social awkwardness of many of the characters, although that can make it almost painful to watch too. My favorite character is definitely Dwight Schrute, who makes the most bizarre statements such as, “I never smile if I can help it. Showing one's teeth is a submission signal in primates. When someone smiles at me, all I see is a chimpanzee begging for its life.” Every episode Dwight seems to have something equally weird and crazy to say, and he delivers the lines so deadpan that it’s hilarious (at least to me). Dwight takes himself much too seriously, and he also happens to be quite gullible, making him an easy target for office pranks (and this of course equates to more laughs). For those of you who have seen the show, I’ve added another poll (on the right) asking who’s your favorite character.

Thank you Mark & Alexis for the great gift!

We are so glad that you like it! You will def need to watch season 3-- they just keep getting funnier. QUESTION!! What is Dwight's best tirade?
ANSWER!
BLOOD ALONE MOVES THE WHEELS OF HISTORY! [pause] Have you ever asked yourselves in an hour of meditation - which everyone finds during the day - how long we have been striving for greatness? [bangs fist] Not only the years we've been at war – the war of work – but from the moment as a child, when we realize the world could be conquered. It has been a lifetime struggle [bangs fists again] a never-ending fight, I say to you [bangs again] and you will understand that it is a privilege to fight. WE ARE WARRIORS! [applause] Salesmen of north-eastern Pennsylvania, I ask you once more rise and be worthy of this historical hour. [even bigger applause as Dwight gives a horrible sounding laugh] No revolution is worth anything unless it can defend itself. Some people will tell you salesman is a bad word. They’ll conjure up images of used car dealers, and door to door charlatans. This is our duty to change their perception. I say, salesman – and women – of the world... unite! We must never acquiesce, for it is together... TOGETHER THAT WE PREVAIL. WE MUST NEVER CEDE CONTROL OF THE MOTHERLAND...
Audience: ...FOR IT IS TOGETHER THAT WE PREVAIL!
