Kaylee's 15 Month Wellness Checkup

Kaylee had her 15 month wellness checkup last week, and I'm happy to report that she is doing splendidly well! She weighs 22.5 pounds and is 30.5 inches long, which is the 40th and 50th percentile respectively. So our little Kaylee is, well, little. (Not really, 50th percentile means average, so she's right around the average).

OK so I try not to brag too much about Kaylee, because one, that's what grandparents are for and two, it drives me nut when parents are all "oh my child is gifted." But I have to boast just a little bit...the doctor said she has an "excellent vocabulary," which is funny because let's face it she's 15 months old! When people ask what words she says I usually respond with: she can say bye bye and baby (because those are the words she can pronounce correctly). But apparently it counts even if they're just saying the first part of the word and repeating it twice (this logic makes Kaylee's vocabulary extremely large). Which is what grandma has been saying all along, but I just assumed she was being much more liberal in the definition of being able to speak than I was.

The doctor was also impressed that Kaylee could point to her nose. Again this makes me chuckle a little, for two reasons. It's funny to think anyone would be impressed by such a thing, and I didn't bother to tell her that Kaylee can point to most of her body parts. And she knows the difference between her nose and say mommy's nose.

OK, so the doctor being so impressed makes me laugh, but it also makes me feel good too. It's nice to know that Kaylee is doing well. And we figured you'd like to know too!
