Nick still has that camera addiction

In pursuit of the better picture, Nick started to have a preoccupation with cameras. Of course, we blame this on Kaylee, but truth be told our trip to Japan (taking place approximately a year before Kaylee was born) was most likely the initial catalyst. Having Kaylee was just the last straw.

Since we took the plunge and bought a spectacular SLR camera, Nick has been honing his photography skills. Me, on the other hand, I point it and shoot lots of times. I figure something has got to come out good, right? Although my approach is unconventional, I'm often pleased with the results. But I digress...anyway about a month after buying the camera Nick started to talk about various lenses. We need a lens for this or we need a lens for that. And I was all, I don't think we need a lens... the camera is perfect! Not too long after the camera purchase, Nick convinced me that a portrait lens would ensure better munchkin pictures. It wasn't too expensive so I agreed. We were pleased, and we have lots of great Kaylee pictures to show for it.

Have I built up enough suspense? Can you guess what comes next? YES, Nick opted to spend his Christmas and birthday loot on a zoom lens that he's been salivating over for months! The picture shown above is our SLR sporting its new zoom lens. LOL, looks a little wild doesn't it? What's a zoom lens used for you ask? From my limited understanding, it seems that you use a zoom lens to take clearer pictures of things that are further away. It's a lens that we'd use at a place like Davis Farmland, where you can't always get super close to the animals.

Being that it's winter and all, we didn't have any outdoorsy things to try it out on, so we practiced on Kaylee. Here's what Nick got...

To be fair, Nick does take some pretty good pictures, don't you think?
