The Great Diffuser

You can probably tell from past posts that we have a preoccupation with cameras. I just couldn’t resist the opportunity to razz Nick a little. As you can see from the picture, our camera looks a bit like alien technology (whatever that may look like). When Nick was researching flashes and such, he came upon this homemade diffuser, and he said to me: “Look at this diffuser. It has great reviews and I can make it from some simple materials found at Michael’s (the craft store).” I looked at the picture, looked at Nick, and couldn’t help but smile. He responded with: “What?” And I replied: “You do realize that people are going to give you a hard time, right? After all, the camera looks like it’s wearing a funky hat (and cameras generally don’t need hats as far as I’m aware).” With all seriousness in his eyes he countered with: “but it will take better pictures.”

Ah, and we come to the crux of the camera preoccupation, the pursuit of better pictures. Off to Michael’s we went, bought the appropriate materials, and you can see the outcome. Nick is pleased with the homemade diffuser (having taken several pictures with and without it he has determined that it’s top notch). As a result, I’m sure you’ll all have the opportunity to see it first hand (attached to the camera of course) in the future. Now that you know what it looks like you don’t have to be afraid when you see it coming towards you during a family event, it’s just a camera wearing a funky hat.

I wish I could've posted a picture of my new Hero camera next to yours. The little two inch by one inch camera you gave me for my birhtday has served us well this summer. The pictures seem to print well and the waterproof wrist band/case has certainly come in handy (that's a story for another day). Also, it might be stealthy enough to get by Kaylee if I wanted to take a picture of her myself. Two comments have been made by others regarding my cute little camera. The first question/comment was something about it being medical equipment that monitored my heart/blood pressure. The second question/comment was something about a GPS. Hope you had a nice 4th!!!
