Teething Troubles

We’ve been a bit spoiled when it comes to Kaylee’s sleeping patterns. She doesn’t usually snooze much during the day, but during the nighttime hours she’s been a sleeping champ since she was six weeks old! The most popular question regarding “the baby” is by far: “Does the baby sleep through the night yet?” People are always showing surprise & outright shock when the answer is yes (making me feel pretty lucky). Although the method in which some people word the question can be a bit comical like, “Hey you’re looking a little haggard, the baby’s keeping you up at night, right?” WHAT! I look haggard! LOL….but I digress.

Around the time of Kaylee’s ten month birthday she started to have trouble sleeping. On a mission to figure out the mystery of Kaylee's bedtime blues, I rolled up my sleeves and whipped out the research wagon. An amusing tidbit about babies is that there are never any deterministic answers (being an engineer this can be a vexing revelation). Apparently, sleepless nights for babies are common (even among those who have slept well for the previous months), and causes can range from getting ready to hit a milestone, separation anxiety, ear infections, and teething. Although thoughts on teething are controversial, there are those who believe teething shouldn’t cause fussiness in babies. We have systematically gone about trying to solve the sleepless mystery, and have settled on teething. (We even took her to the pedi to have her ears checked.) Luckily, she’s not really cranky during the day (she’s too busy trying to walk or scoot around on her butt). We are looking forward to the day when all her teeth are in, until then I guess we’ll be playing the waiting game!

Thanks for the feedback! If you know how to edit the code so that I can make the columns wider, let me know! There are a lot of blogs I've seen that I like the look of, but I don't know how to do it yet. I wish I had the money for photoshop or a nice camera like yours, but they are pricey! How many teeth does Kaylee have now? Does she drool a lot b/c she's teething? That's what our friends kid did. I definitely like seeing lots of pics and videos, I check in every day.

Kaylee has 6 teeth, so she has 14 to go (babies have 20 teeth, while us adults have 32). She drools like crazy, and chews both hands at the same time! BTW I check your blog everyday too...this blogging stuff can be addicting (both checking on other blogs and wanting to have cool posts on your own blog).
